Jesse's Ice Fort

Well, you know I have to tell you all about Jesse's ice fort. We get a good bit of snow and it is below freezing every night. We actually think 40's are warm these days. We have already used up all of our snow days at school and we're supposed to get another storm coming through tonight so we'll probably end up in school through June 4th or 5th or something insane like that. Anyway, Jesse got this idea (surprise, surprise) to build an ice fort in our backyard. He filled up Rubbermaid containers and a baby swimming pool with water every night and it would be frozen solid in the morning. He would then stack the ice blocks on top of each other and chop them with an axe to form a type of huge igloo. Then he would spray a light mist over a period of an hour or so from time to time to seal it all together; after that he topped it off with snow. I have to admit it's pretty amazing looking. Unfortunately, the kids don't really play in it much. They have run an extension cord out there and played video games, though. This is the type of thing that makes people roll their eyes about Jesse but it is also what makes him a fantastic father. He's still serving in the Young Men's organization at church and he has had them over a couple of times to check it out. A couple of times a group of boys from the high school have knocked at our door and asked me if they can go in the ice fort for a bit. A lot of you know that Jesse has always worked well with teens. Our Bishop, who is also a teacher at the high school, says that he never sees Jesse without a group of at least 3-5 boys following him around. He really loves his job here. I hope to have some pics of him soon at his classroom with students and stuff (if that's allowed).
